last night, i had a long conversation with my friend about the ways in which white activism tends to play out as an ingenious performance (who can scream at the loudest?) & it got me thinking:
it’s really sad on so many levels how i now avoid using terms such as “intersectional” to describe my politics because that language has been co-opted by white cis kids trying to uphold reputations as anti-racist, trans*-friend “allies.” white kids have to constantly work on that image or else they/we will be blatantly called out as they/we continue with their/our self-serving efforts (all under the guise of altruistic activism, of course). actions will always speak louder than words.
