anybody can identify however they want. however, it is always a privilege to assume that other people will understand your identification & invite you into their space. you have to WORK towards that, always. the only difference between queer spaces and non-queer spaces is that they consist of queer people. you have to work towards communication & community in queer and non-queer spaces wherever you go.
i’m really sick of people talking about the “queer community” as if it is some solid thing. there are lots of queer groups of friends, no one solid community which you somehow earn access to just because you identify as queer.
what the hell is community anyway? is it a network of friends? of families? a group of people with similar interests? something geographical?
