i’ve finished pretty much all my work for my first year of grad school. i didn’t even wind up taking incompletes!
i’ve already begun my fun reading — nevada by imogen binnie is fabulous thus far
i will be spending the full months of july & august (and possibly some of june - that is still up in the air) in new york city (rather than baltimore) & visiting my dad in connecticut
i will most likely spend this time volunteering at queers for economic justice & bluestockings & volunteering at rock camp & hopefully also working
yesterday i was offered summer employment, but they demanded to drug test me on the spot so i turned down this opportunity
i am looking for employment in new york city that doesn’t involve drug testing
bc hell
i am seeking queer collective housing in brooklyn bc i recognize that living with my parents is a contributing factor to my life woes / existential anxiety
i will be at ida starting on june 5th & i might drive to chicago clitfest in august (does anybody wanna ride share to chicago?)
if you live in nyc we should hang out, okay?

okay yes, all men upset me & trans men are obviously nothing special (did i even have to say that??????) but honestly, $850 w/o a full year commitment & with a w/d is hard enough to find in bklyn, refusing to live w/ no men whatsoever rules out most potential spaces. i’ll take living with trans men who are likely to hang out with the sort of rad queer community folks i’d like to be more afflicted with over living with my parents

i’m looking to rent an affordable ($850 or less is preferable, i can potentially go higher) room in brooklyn (pref off the 4/5, A/C, or 2/3 lines, i’m flexible thou) that can last me thru the end of next may & possibly a bit longer. i’d be looking to move in sometime before or during august, i’m not in a rush & can wait for the right place to pop up. i am twenty six, a graduate student, white, cis, female & queer. i enjoy going to shows & watching reruns of rosanne. i read books. i’m a decent conversationalist. i can be rather disorganized (which translates itself to messy), but i’m never dirty & have complete respect other people’s spaces. i wanna live with other queer people who don’t espouse racist / sexist / transphobic / capitalist bullshit & who won’t actively judge me for going to school to become a neoliberalist (a social worker at a nonprofit). i’m one of those roommates who likes to process. cis men upset me. a washer / dryer would be a plus. i’ll post this on other listserves / facebook later. (my girlfriend says i’m a good roommate & has offered to write a reference)

This album, Dead to Me - they say it’s ‘music for haunting the haters.’ Yet another awesome thing about them. They make angry, scary garage horror punk, and are so good. yesterday, i got a call that my dad’s live-in aid in connecticut had a mental breakdown

he called the police claiming that my brother was “spiritually threatening” to kill him

the police arrived, concluded that the aid was hallucinating voices, and promptly drove him to a mental hosptial

throughout this process, my father (who’s still cognitively scrambled) mostly seemed frustrated that the aid hadn’t toasted his breakfast english muffin properly

i joked to my brother that he should save his voodoo powers for greater causes

(no laughter)

what i should have said was “you can be such an insufferable shit, you crank my misandry up to level 3000, the aid wasn’t the first person who’s begun to loose grip while collaborating with / under you”
