yesterday, i learned that a friend from college passed away. she was the second person i had been friends with in my college class to die this year. i don’t know what happened (that information has not been released yet), i do know that she had two young children. we hung out fairly often during college, however i hadnt spoken to her since our 2009 graduation. she was never on fbook, and im horrible at keeping in contact with people who don’t use social media. im alright (albeit very sad for her and her family),however this serves as yet another reminder of how important it is to check in w & keep in touch with & express yr love for yr friends.

IT’S BEEN A WEEKEND OF MIRACLES!
1. Betty Boop, our sick fourteen year old puppy, went into fatal cardiac arrest on Wednesday & the vet suggested that we put her down. I came home for that dreadful appointment but then, all of a sudden, she started to get better! She played and kissed all weekend, so we decided to cancel the appointment. She will go on her own time, not when it’s convenient for me to be in the city.
2. My moms friend Joan had practically a zero percent chance of surviving last month. Even a week ago, doctors said that in the off chance she lived she’d be mentally retarded for the rest of her life. But now shes home & she’s talking, eating and even DRAWING! The strives she’s made in the last three days have been unbelievable. When I first saw her, she didn’t know her name or mine. Now, she is talking in relevancy coherent, complete sentences with the same mannerisms as before. She understands absolutely everything that is said to her, but has a difficult time finding the right words. Interestingly enough, one of her most noticeable speech impediments is that she has absolutely no perception of gender. Oh, and today she told my mom & I that she no longer wants to be “put to sleep forever!”
Best birthday presents a gal could ever ask for!!!!!!!!!!!!!
